The Basics on Lactic Acid:
Lactic acid is a chemical compound with the formula of C3H6O3, and the molar mass of 90.08 g mol−1. It has the melting point of 53 degrees celcius, and the boiling point of 122 degrees celcius. Lactic acid is composed of three elements hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. Hydrogen is 6.714% of the mass, carbon is 40.001% of the mass, and oxygen is 53.285% of the mass. lactic acid lost one proton from the acidic group, then it would become the lactate ion. Lactic acid was refined and isolated for the first time by a Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele in 1780 from sour milk. A few years later in 1808 another scientist Jöns Jacob Berzelius was doing experiments, when he discovered that lactic acid is also produced in muscles during excercise. Finally in 1881 a French scientist by the name of Fremy produced lactic acid through fermentation.
Lactic acid is found everywhere in our everyday lives, but is most commonly found in animals, food products, and the human body. The natural abundance of lactic acid is found in animal cells, and in the human body during excercise. Lactic acid is obtained through excercise, and through the fermentation of food products, ecspecially dairy producs.
